This is the HPI Baja SS special ONROAD edition by CAT 5 Manufacturing and LargeScaleRC.com. This is a Pro-Built Baja SS kit with suspension-lowering shock limiters and Tarmac Buster tires installed. The stock Dirt Buster tires are also included with this package. This vehicle is offered with various engine and RTR (ready-to-run) radio options.
Upgraded Engine Options:
28.5cc Head Kit Upgrade - This is the least expensive motor upgrade option where we remove the stock cylinder and piston and replace them with the 28.5cc big bore kit. This kit give a big improvement in power and accelleration. This upgrade will boost the horsepower rating to 3.25 hp.
28.5cc GP290 version 2 Chrome Engine Upgrade / Motor Swap - With this engine option, we remove your stock engine and replace it with the powerful GP290 version 2 engine. This engine is rated at 3.5 hp with good bottom end power and very good top end speed. This is one of the best and most reliable upgraded motors. The GP290 version 2 has a 40mm boss opening at the cylinder to allow for better fuel / air transfer through the larger transfer ports.
30.5cc Stroker CY Chrome Engine Upgrade / Motor Swap - With this engine option, we remove your stock engine and replace it with the CY 30.5cc Stroker Chrome Engine. The 30.5cc stroker engine is known for its bottom-end torque. The stroker crankshaft in this engine increases the piston travel by 2mm giving the engine a longer power stroke. The only drawback to a longer stroke crankshaft is a reduction in top RPM's. This engine works great in vehicles with large / oversized tires. For top speed performance, you should choose an engine with a standard stroke crankshaft and a race ported head. This engine is rated at 3.75 hp.
28.5cc CAT 5 Race Ported 4-bolt Zenoah / F230 Chrome Engine Upgrade / Motor Swap - With this engine option, we remove your stock engine and replace it with the CAT 5 Mfg Race Ported 28.5cc engine.
This motor features a Zenoah 36mm 4-bolt cylinder mounted onto the F230 crankcase. The Zenoah cylinder is used on this motor due to the high quality cylinder plating and the F230 crankcase is used because of it's large transfer port openings. The cylinder ports have been modified, reshaped, and enlarged for greater performance. The cylinder and crankcase have been port-match machined for optimal fuel / air delivery. This allows for larger transfer ports for smoother delivery of fuel & air to the combustion chamber. The ring groove has been modified (releaved) to resist lean seizures due to piston head expansion. This motor is rated at 4.25+ HP. This is an excellent motor option for the person who really likes to go fast. Engine comes with WT-668 carb and clutch with 8,000 RPM spring. ***Due to the high performance of this engine, we recommend that you use 91+ octane gasoline or racing fuel up to 116 octane.*** (This engine is also available with an optional lightened piston. 30.5cc CAT 5 Race Ported 4-bolt Zenoah / F270 "stroker" Chrome Engine Upgrade / Motor Swap - With this engine option, we remove your stock engine and replace it with the CAT 5 Mfg Race Ported 30.5cc engine.
This motor features a Zenoah 36mm 4-bolt cylinder mounted onto the F270 crankcase. The Zenoah cylinder is used on this motor due to the high quality cylinder plating and the F270 crankcase is used because of it's large transfer port openings. The cylinder ports have been modified, reshaped, and enlarged for greater performance. The cylinder and crankcase have been port-match machined for optimal fuel / air delivery. This allows for larger transfer ports for smoother delivery of fuel & air to the combustion chamber. This engine has a 2mm stroker crankshaft. The top of the piston has been turned down & smoothed on a lathe for proper squish clearance at TDC without stacking gaskets. The ring groove has been modified (releaved) to resist lean seizures due to piston head expansion. This motor is rated at 4.5+ HP. This engine has brutal bottom-end torque with good top RPM. Engine comes with WT-668 carb and clutch with 8,000 RPM spring. ***Due to the high compression of this engine, you MUST use 91+ octane gasoline or racing fuel up to 116 octane.*** (This engine is also available with an optional lightened piston. 30.5cc Stroker ESP Race Ported CY 2-Bolt Chrome Engine Upgrade / Motor Swap - With this engine option, we remove your stock engine and replace it with the CY 30.5cc ESP Race Ported Stroker Chrome Engine. The 30.5cc stroker engine is known for its bottom-end torque. The stroker crankshaft in this engine increases the piston travel by 2mm giving the engine a longer power stroke. The only drawback to a longer stroke crankshaft is a reduction in top RPM's. However, this engine has had the intake and exhaust ports modified to help with RPM's. This engine works great in vehicles with large / oversized tires. For top speed performance, you should choose an engine with a standard stroke crankshaft and a race ported head. This engine is rated at 4.5 hp.
